The Goodwill Table & the Practice of Dana

The Goodwill Table at Amandari studio (during February) is more than a table of objects - it’s a small experiment in generosity, trust, and connection. It invites us to practice Dana, the ancient art of giving freely, without expectation. Unlike charity or exchange, Dana asks us to trust. TRUST that what we release will find its place, and that what we receive will arrive when we need it.
In this way, each item on the table carries more than its material form. A small object, a note, a blessing or a wish becomes a vessel of intention - a way to share care and kindness across the invisible threads that connect our SANGHA (Yoga Community) and us all.
Energetically, this practice resonates with the Air element and the Anahata, or heart chakra - the center of compassion, balance and metta (loving-kindness.)
Like air, goodwill is meant to circulate. Holding onto it too tightly blocks its flow, but letting it move freely nourishes both giver and receiver.
The table also reminds us that abundance is not only about having more. True abundance grows when we share what we already have, allowing joy to ripple outward. It is a quiet, simple way to cultivate mindfulness, empathy and generosity in daily life.
In taking what speaks to us and in offering what we no longer need, we participate in a living cycle of giving and receiving. Each small act of Dana softens scarcity, opens the heart, and spreads joy - a reminder that even ordinary objects can carry extraordinary intention.
The Goodwill Table is an experiment in softening - loosening the grip of scarcity, opening the heart and allowing joy to travel lightly from hand to hand.
Take what you need.
Bring what you have.
Share some abundance.
Spread some joy.
