"Strong bonds are not made with ropes and no one can untie them. – Lao Tzu”
WEDNESDAY 5 NOVEMBER, at the studio is for you. From 5.30pm - 6.30pm on Wednesday evening - an hour of relaxed connection. A space to chat, share some tea and get to know some of the faces we see each week, but might miss because we have to roll up our mat and rush back into our day.
You’re warmly invited. Even if you can only drop in for 10 minutes, please come to say hello and help us create a wonderful hour. Your “Plus One” is very welcome - pls let us know so we have enough; we have a few things to share.
Wy Sangha and What is it?
Humans are hardwired for friendship and shared purpose. And it's common knowledge that people surrounded by good community thrive and live longer. This may be why yoga sangha (community) has always been at the heart of yoga practice.
A yogi once said to his yoga teacher: “Surely this is half of a good life: being part of good sangha? (a community of friends and colleagues)” The teacher looked at him and replied, “Oh no, good sangha is actually the whole of a good life.”
A reminder that practice is not something we usually do alone; it unfolds in the company of others. The root of yoga sangha reaches back more than 4000yrs. The essence is 'coming together' to practice and support each other. Our sense of community helps us thrive. While we might come to yoga seeking stillness or strength, it’s often our shared experience that restores something deeper in us. Our practice itself becomes an unspoken understanding that we are part of something bigger.
True yoga sangha / community can show itself quietly: in familiar faces or through our ease of being together without needing to be anyone in particular. When we gather as yoga sangha, we experience community not as something to build, but as something already present and alive.
See you there.
