🌿  ARRIVAL AND MEETING POINT

  • We’ll be meeting at the AMANDARI YOGA SHALA - 4 CHURCH STREET, GREYTON - for introductions and to get settled in.

🌿  THE RETREAT STARTS AT xxxxxx.

  • Please aim to arrive at 2pm - so we have time to meet each other, and time for any last-minute questions or adjustments and so we can start at 2.30pm.

🌿  WHAT TO BRING

  • Your yoga mat - I have a few mats, so if you don't have a personal yoga mat it's not a problem.

  • A meditation cushion / bench (optional)

  • A light jersey, shawl or wrap and something waterproof for light showers.  The weather can be unpredictable and changeable in Greyton, so wear layers.

  • Please bring warm comfortable socks - even in the height of summer, when meditating or sitting still for a period of time, hands and feet tend to get chilly.

  • Pencil and paper / notebook for notes or reflections during the retreat.

  • A guru bead if you’d like to personalise your mala.. I’ll have a selection of beads available, so this is optional, but a personal bead can add a special touch.  More about mala and guru beads here

🌿  RETREAT FOOD GUIDELINES

  • All meals at the retreat will be plant-based and there will be a gluten-free option.

  • I’ll be providing a light plant-based breakfast and lunch on Day 2.

  • On the evening of the first day, you’ll be in your own accommodation, and dinner will be your own arrangement.

🌿  SNACKS

  • Feel free to bring along something like nuts or dried fruit to snack on between classes if you feel you will need that.  Pls remember to keep all snacks vegetarian & no eating / drinking inside the practice space.

🌿  GENERAL GUIDELINES TO EATING BEFORE YOGA / MEDITATION

  • It’s generally a good idea to avoid eating or drinking a large amount for at least 1 to 2 hours before practicing any yoga or meditation.  And since we’ll be practising yoga and meditation throughout the day, it’s best not to overeat to stay comfortable.

🌿  EMBRACE THE SILENCE

  • Some parts of our retreat will be silent.  If you're not used to it, it might feel strange and contrived at first, but it's a good way of providing an opportunity for deeper reflection and connection with yourself. Enjoy the sensation of silence and find peace in knowing you don’t need to distract yourself with small talk.

🌿  GENERAL YOGA STUDIO ETIQUETTE

  • IF YOU'RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOGA SPACES AND HOW TO MOVE AROUND IN THEM,  HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO MAKE YOUR WEEKEND FLOW:

In most INTEGRAL HOLISTIC YOGA STUDIOS around the world there is a similar and shared understanding of how we create a harmonious yoga environment. This helps yogi's support one another and enhances our practice. Keeping these principles in mind can elevate your time in the studio and creates a peaceful atmosphere for everyone. Here are some tips to consider during your practice: PLEASE DO: ARRIVE EARLY: It is polite to arrive 5 - 10mins before class starts so everyone can start together. Give yourself those few minutes to find your spot, settle in and take a few breaths. This helps create a shared sense of connection and peace as we begin our practice together. REMOVE YOUR SHOES: It is customary to remove shoes before stepping into the practice space and practicing yoga with bare feet. EMBRACE THE QUIET: There's no need to make small talk when you come in. Generally a yoga practice space is a silent, meditative space. Most yogi's who have a dedicated practice are there for more than just physical exercise. Embrace the calm and keep conversation to a minimum or outside to maintain a serene atmosphere. BRING AN OPEN HEART: Come with an open mind and a willingness to explore, learn and connect with yourself and others. RESPECT PERSONAL SPACE: Be mindful of personal space and the mats around you, please don't step on others' mats and try to choose a spot that allows everyone behind you to see clearly. LEAVE ALL BELONGINGS: Please don't take belongings into the practice space, leave them in the entrance hall. (phones, jackets, water bottles, food, etc.) SWITCH OFF OR SILENCE ALL DEVICES: Please, no vibrations or sounds from phones, smart watches, etc. PRACTICE WITH CLEAN HANDS AND FEET: especially when using shared props. If you wear make-up to a yoga class, consider bringing a hand towel to keep things fresh. DO ASK QUESTIONS: I'm here to support your practice and help you along the way. If you’re unsure about something, feel free to ask before, after or in between classes! Try not to initiate a conversation in the middle of practice. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY: Please always practice AHIMSA (kindness and non-violence) It’s perfectly okay to take a break (lie down on your mat) or modify poses to suit your needs. AHIMSA is a good practice in general, but especially in a yoga space, where it means being open-hearted, kind and mindful in movements, actions and thoughts. LEAVE WITH A GOOD VIBE: as you leave, try to carry the peace and positivity of your practice with you, spreading good energy wherever you go.

DIRECTIONS TO
AMANDARI YOGA SHALA
GREYTON

FROM CAPE TOWN /
CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Start from Cape Town: Take the N2 highway heading east toward Somerset West. Continue on the N2: Drive along the N2 for approximately 110 km. (You’ll pass Somerset West, Grabouw, and Houw Hoek Pass). Keep an eye out for signs for Caledon. After about 110 km on the N2, look for the R406 turn-off to Greyton and Genadendal, located between Bot River and Caledon. Turn left onto the R406. This scenic road will take you directly to Greyton. It’s about 32 km from the turn-off to the village. As you enter Greyton, follow the main road, DS Botha Street, through the village. Look for a large, white church on the left hand side of the road. Church Street is the small dirt road just behind the church. Look out for a light green/blue wooden gate. That's us! If you need more directions details, please message me. Estimated driving time from Cape Town Central is about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Enjoy the drive; it's a beautiful route!
